Miscellaneous 2003
We visited southeast Utah in late April. Sandy, Randy and Max joined us for a hike down into Labyrinth Canyon of the Green River. The trail was more like a primitive route and was a challenge to get down there. the views were awesome and it was nice to have a taste of summer time in April. | We camped on the banks of the Green River. Here's a view looking up river from our campsite. |
Climbing out was very challenging for all of us. Here's a particularly rough spot. | It was rewarding to get back up onto the rim of the canyon to see the expansive views again. |
Here's a nice 150 degree panorama of the side canyon we hiked down which was called Twomile Canyon. The Green River is seen in the middle of the shot. | |
We had a fun visit to Illinois in June for a family get together. We attended Laura's dance recital where she performed various dance techniques like a pro. Here's a post show pic with a proud Grampa! | A shot of 4 of 5 sisters together for some good times |
The next day was Paul's big high school graduation party. We had fun visiting, playing volleyball and eating great food. Congrats Paul! | Chris met up with Jeff and Shawn for some good golfing at the old park. It was Chris's first outing in 9 years and it showed! |
We had a quiet spring time. Then we did our yearly anniversary trip to Grand Lake. Below we see Sharon blazing on her favorite run anywhere. It is along the trail on the lake in Rocky Mountain NP. |
In July we did some backpacking to get in shape for a big trip to come in August. Here is a shot from way high on the crest of the beautiful Sangre De Cristo Mountains. |
Another trip brought us to gorgeous Goodwin Lake | And another trek was into the Horn Lakes in the Sangres. We've been hiking in that range for 9 summers and its still gonna be a while before we've been up all the valleys available for exploring. |

We've both developed allergies after moving out here in 1991. Sharon's arch nemesis is sagebrush. This year had a bloom time like we've never seen it. The normally ugly plants actually added to the landscape with miles of yellow. | The weather cooperated at the end of September to create the best fall color display we've ever seen. It was gold and red simultaneously from the valley floors all the way to the mountain tops which is a rarity. Here we are at Maroon Lake near Aspen. |
Towering aspens... | The gorgeous Roaring Fork River. |

Chris and Paul went to Crested Butte mountain biking again but also went to Fruita out in Western Colorado. This is desert biking in a spectacular area along the Colorado River. if you look at the following photo closely, you may see a mini Paul along the canyon rim. | You have to be careful not to tip over along some of these trails or you'll be going for a swim! |
Sharon was a witch for Halloween at work |
