MICHIGAN
After Sharon's Ragnar relay with her team that finished in Traverse City, we headed into northern Michigan for a week.  
We first took the ferry out to Mackinac Island. No cars are aloud so we rented bikes and rode them around the perimiter of the island

After a long flight to Buenos Aires, we spent a night there before another long flight south. So we checked out the city which was very similar to a European capital

The US had a historic fort on the bluffs overlooking Lake Huron and he straight into Lake Michigan. The Mackinac Bridge is on the horizon.

Then we continued north onto the Upper Penisula. We first checked out Tahquonoman Falls which is nicknamed "Rootbeer Falls" due to the water color caused by tannin in the water from trees upstream.

Then we spent a couple days checking out Pictured Rocks which is along the Lake Superior coast.

We did a great loop hike in the central portion of the park with a long stretch on the cliffs overlooking the lake.

There's also a great lighthouse you can tour. We were able to climb up for a nice view from the tower.

The first week of October is a good week for color up here and we caught the very beginning of the transition with lots of maples turning crimson.

Back down near Traverse City we spent a beautiful day seeing Sleeping Bear Dunes.

The highest dune is 450ft above Lake Michigan so we caught a pretty sunset from up there.
