PATAGONIA
Patagonia had been on our bucket list for years. We finally made it. Flew in to Buenos Aires and then down to El Calafate. From there it is a 5 hour bus ride south to Torres del Paine National Park in Chile. And after that a couple drives north and west to see areas of Los Glaciares National Park in Argentina. The land is sparsely inhabited but filled with awe inspiring landscapes.
After a long flight to Buenos Aires, we spent a night there before another long flight south. So we checked out the city which was very similar to a European capital.

This is the Refugio Frances which was an interesting hut with domes to sleep in. All the huts had showers and they fed us really well. It was fun to talk to people from around the world.

El Chalten is home to Mt. Fitz Roy. About as iconic of a peak that you'll ever see!

It was a stunning day to check out the glacier which is one of the only ones in the world not receding. A boat ride lead to a guided hike along with close-up views.

There is a major series of balconies, stairs and viewpoints right at the head of the glacier that offered great views.

After that we found ourselves back in Buenos Aires for a couple nights and a chance to explore more of the city. We just had to check out a Tango show!
