KAUA'I NORTH SHORE

If you ever find yourself in Kaua'i, we highly recommend the condo we stayed in at Princeville.  It is called Hardy's Happy Hula Hut (click for their website) and is reasonably priced with a killer view of the ocean.  It is inside the luxurious resort community of Princeville which is right in the middle of the action on the north shore.
Living area of condo.  The views are outstanding!   There is also one bedroom and kitchen.

We took a half day boat trip along the incredible Na Pali coast.  We saw a ton of dolphins and sea turtles in the ocean.  Too bad Chris was too slow to get any good pictures of them :-)  We also saw many sea caves, waterfalls and 3000ft cliffs up to the heavens.  The boat took us to a great reef on the western side of the island where we snorkeled for about an hour.  It was an overcast and rainy day so the pictures below are pretty dark.   We really enjoyed the trip nonetheless and would highly recommend it to any of you who visit there.

This is Kalalau Beach.  Notice the tents in the caves on the beach so you can appreciate how huge the cliffs are along this coast.

These are some of the many sea caves that we saw.  Our boat was small so we were able to go INSIDE the cave on the left. It was very cool!!!

There is a very interesting place just a short hike from Princeville.  It is called Queens Bath and it is a natural sea water pool carved out of the lava rock.  Only the biggest waves can make it in there so most of the time it is nice and calm to swim around in.
Chris enjoys the pool all to himself

There were many kinds of tropical fish in the pool!

Our favorite beach that we visited was called Tunnel's Beach.  This north shore beach has great mountain views, plenty of elbow room, and a fantasic coral reef for snorkeling.  We saw thousands of fish here.  You could just wade out there and watch the fish swim around your feet!!!

The Kilauea Lighthouse marks the northern most point in the Hawaiian Islands.  It is a national wildlife refuge for sea birds.
